Proposal Pointers: Music to her Ears

A few weekends ago I was lucky enough to catch Dan Donnelly, a Northern-Irish born, highly talented musician and member of a NYC-based band Sonovagun.  I’m very selective of my music vendors (being a musician myself) and asked for Dan’s card.  His card described him as a singer and songwriter which inspired this proposal idea…

Why not contact a local singer/songwriter to write a special tune for your special guy or gal?  Just imagine having a song written especially for the two of you and your story… it makes the moment so personal!  You can have the composer perform in the background while you’re down on one knee or have a recording playing for more intimate and private proposals.  A special bonus…play the song at your wedding as your first dance song! Just think of how many girls have swooned over this scene from the Wedding Singer…

Not that I didn’t have an amazing proposal but I always dreamed that somehow The Police’s Every Little Thing She Does is Magic would be incorporated into the popping the question event! if this would have been done acoustically or in some unique way, I would have melted!

I was actually planning on singing and playing a song for my husband on our wedding day. I was taking guitar lessons at the time and thought I’d be ready. I wasn’t (at least I didn’t think so). I chickened out. Your idea would have been a great alternative.

It’s a great idea, it’s so romantic. I have visited a lot of weddings, some of them really touched me. I always feel when the relations between two people are sincere and they do everything whole-hearted.

  4. I love music of all kinds and I have to say that having my husband write a song just for me when he proposed would have been way cool!
