Travis and Tamara’s proposal was a beautiful family affair. Tamara’s father lives in Puerto Rico and she had not seen him a while so Travis knew he wanted to include him in this special moment. Tamara thought that they were simply in New York City for a special night out. They checked into their hotel and once they were settled in their room, they received a surprise phone call from the concierge. They were invited to a “special AMEX cocktail hour” in the hotel’s rooftop venue, a stunning room with amazing views of the NYC skyline. When the elevator door opened, Tamara was stunned to see the room filled with lush florals in her favorite color, purple, and a band playing the couple’s special song. Travis got down on one knee and proposed and Tamara responded with a resounding “yes”! But, the surprises for Tamara were not over yet! Tamara was overwhelmed with emotion when her family and adorable young son ran out to greet newly engaged couple and congratulate them! It was especially emotional as Tamara had not seen her father in some time. The family then enjoyed a private dinner in the space at a table covered in love poems chosen by Travis to celebrate their relationship.
Congratulations to Travis & Tamara!

I was delighted to appear on Anderson Cooper Live today to talk about marriage proposal planning! Link to the segment coming soon, but in the meantime, here’s a fun photo.
Documenting your marriage proposal is one of the most important “Do’s” when it comes to popping the question. Only a photo taken in the moment can truly capture all the emotions and reactions brought on by a proposal. These photos are irreplaceable and provide you with a way to re-live this happy moment for the rest of your lives and share it with friends and family! You can also choose to do a portrait session immediately after the “yes” that can double as your engagement photo session. This gives you the best of both worlds – emotional keepsake photos and fun, posed shots to use for save the dates or holiday cards. With photos like these, who wouldn’t want a photographer or videographer to capture the moment?

It used to be that a woman received a diamond ring when she got engaged, and then a wedding band when she got married. But, times are changing. Make way for the Engagement Band! These rings tend to be wider than a normal wedding band and, instead of one large diamond, they are usually covered in many small diamonds and intricate detail. The most notable fact about them is that they combine the engagement ring and a wedding band, in both looks and function. Now, women are either receiving both an engagement band and a wedding band, or, for those couples ahead of the times, just one engagement band.
This begs the question, if you only wear one ring, when do you receive it? Most people who choose to wear an engagement band do not receive it until the wedding day, especially if the band is very wide. This could mean many diamond-less proposals in our future. Would you say “yes” to a marriage proposal without a ring? Is one ring better really than two? Check out the below rings and decide for yourself if they’re worth the wait!
