Designing Anna and Chris’ gorgeous winter wedding was nothing short of fun! The happy couple was married at University Club in late December of last year. The bride, dressed to perfection in a strapless beaded gown, stunned their guests as she walked down the aisle to “Jurassic Park”. In order to include family and friends in their ceremony, each guest received their own breaking glass and joined the happy newlyweds in the tradition of breaking the glass!
Later, as guests entered the reception space, they marveled at the custom table numbers, that Anna’s dad sketched by hand just for their wedding! The bride and groom shared their first dance to an acoustic version of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up”, which artfully faded into the real deal, bringing guests onto the dance floor.
After dancing much of the night away, the guests and bridal party continued their festivities with a champagne pour and enjoyed specialty desserts from famous restaurants around the city! The end of the night didn’t disappoint either – each guest received a tiny bouquet of flowers, hand-wrapped with a custom sticker, as they made their way to the after party. Congratulations Anna and Chris!

Food is always a crowd pleaser. Here is just a sample of some food highlights from our recent clients.
Pretzels with labels that said “Kim and Bill tied the knot,” jars of locally made honey with tags saying “Love is Sweet,” a giant periodic table of macarons and test tubes with candied sunflower seeds for a couple who work as scientists and gourmet ice cream sandwiches with edible labels.
Wish Upon a Wedding Hosted its Fall 2013 Bridal Market Kickoff Party at the beautiful Prince George Ballroom. As a proud board member of the New York Chapter, it was amazing to see the night come together as top professionals from all areas of the wedding industry gathered to support this wonderful cause. The night included great treats such as fresh hand shucked oysters, delicious whoopie pies, and amazing macarons in a whole assortment of flavors. The night concluded with a short film honoring the couple of the second wish the New York Chapter had granted. With Central Park as the backdrop, Le Parker Meridien Hotel provided the perfect location for a beautiful breakfast that joined together wedding industry pros with media experts. I’m proud to be a Board Member of Wish Upon a Wedding New York. Wish Upon a Wedding is an organization that makes it possible for couples facing terminal illness or other serious circumstances to have a dream weddings or vow renewal through the generosity of donations from local wedding professionals. With 60 wishes already being granted nationwide, we hosted a breakfast to share our successes and forge new partnerships. Julie and Hayden, two Australians originally from Sydney and Adelaide, were married on a sunny January day at Solage Calistoga Resort in Napa Valley, California, which was the perfect spot for their intimate and sleek wedding. In a room filled with white linen-draped chairs and fresh calla lilies, Julie, who looked stunning in her short, white dress and elegant birdcage veil, walked down the aisle to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Following their lovely afternoon ceremony, guests were greeted by tables that were simply decorated with crystal vases containing calla lilies and hand-calligraphed menus and enjoyed a truly spectacular lunch. Julie is a die-hard foodie and wanted only the best foods at her reception, so guests were treated to a huge roasted pig, salmon tartar on crispy wontons, buttermilk fried chicken and parmigiano and thyme Risotto, and California’s best artisan cheeses. After indulging in all of these fabulous foods, family and friends toasted to the couple’s love-filled future and watched them share their first dance to the song “Everything” by Michael Buble. Congratulations, Julie and Hayden! We were thrilled to have their wedding featured this week on Style Me Pretty.
Thanks to What Shanni Saw for the amazing photos.
In addition to being one of the cutest and most in love couples, helping Margot and Brian with their wedding day coordination was an absolutely wonderful experience as well, so I am beyond thrilled to share their elegant and hip wedding, which was just featured on Style Me Pretty! Despite being a chilly winter day, Margot and Brian were so full of love and happiness on their wedding day that nothing could stop them from smiling. Margot, clad in a elegant cropped fur coat, and Brian, who looked dapper in his tuxedo, took some stunning yet playful photos in DUMBO before their wedding ceremony and reception. The following ceremony and reception at reBar in Brooklyn were sophisticated and cool, just like the happy couple. Margot looked absolutely gorgeous as she walked down the aisle to “I Found A Reason” by Kat Power and the newly married couple was absolutely beaming as they exited the ceremony. Guests noshed on delicious food, but it was the desserts that had everybody talking. From a never-ending array of candy set up at a unique candy bar to delectable doughnuts from Doughnut Plant, the sweet treats were a hit. Family and friends danced the night away with Margot and Brian and even broke the needle on the DJ’s turntable because they were having so much fun jumping and dancing to “Gangnam Style” by PSY. Congratulations, Margot and Brian!
Thanks to Clean Plate Pictures for the beautiful photos.
I truly applaud Judith and Pradeep for being such a fun and patient couple on their lengthy yet unforgettable wedding day. Not only did the couple have a full Catholic mass, they also had a vibrant Hindu ceremony. Judith and Pradeep looked radiant in both their bright, ornately-decorated attire and jewelry at their Hindu ceremony and in their elegant tuxedo and wedding gown. When Judith stepped out in her blush pink wedding gown everyone was in awe over how amazing she looked in her dress. Following the couple’s beautiful ceremonies, Judith entered the reception with the biggest smile on her face and was ready to enjoy all of the festivities. The beaming bride and groom shared their first dance to a mixed version of Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat’s song “Lucky” that featured Spanish and had a fabulous evening with their family and friends. Congratulations Judith and Pradeep!
Thanks to Radhika Photography for the gorgeous photos.
I had an absolutely amazing time planning an unforgettable and super sweet proposal for Mike at the famous Carlo’s Bakery of TLC’s Cake Boss! Link to come as soon as it’s been published by TLC.
Step aside food stations, there’s a new catering trend in town! Food trucks! This food trend has quickly become a staple of the after party and more recently, of the reception itself. The food truck ups the fun factor and allows guests to put their own spin on dinner. Now, if only every wedding venue had a place to park a truck or two!
I was lucky enough to visit Forty 1° North, a hotel and marina resort located in the heart of Newport, Rhode Island as part of a recent press trip. It’s the perfect getaway for couples searching for a wedding location that’s like the Hamptons, but not the Hamptons. A quick, relaxing train ride – free of the chaos of airport security and terrible traffic snarls – to Newport and you’re at the perfect waterfront destination wedding location in flash.
The vibe of this resort mixes the caliber of a New York City wedding – a sophisticated setting and impeccable food & service – with the backdrop of charming Newport. It is posh, yet totally approachable. The boutique hotel is located right on the marina and has 24 rooms and suites, as well as 2 lofts and 2 cottages. Each room has its own Dr. Seuss book, for a touch of whimsy, and Malin + Goetz amenities to make sure you are properly pampered.
When it comes to wedding venue locations, Forty 1° North has both indoor and outdoor space, including the waterfront marina and two restaurants with totally distinct vibes. Whether you use their in-house sommelier for rehearsal dinners in the private dining room, their roundtable bar for a beer tasting, the library for a welcome cocktail reception or your ceremony in the open-air seafront reception area, it’s perfect for a summer evening wedding or a cozy, intimate winter nuptials!
During my stay, I was lucky enough to experience a boat ride around the harbor with a luxury picnic of lobster rolls, caviar and perfectly chilled rosé – a super chic alternative to the typical rehearsal dinner. We also were treated to a cooking class cooking class with their classically trained head chef, where we made an inventive, but surprisingly easy, Thai soup! A fun way to do a group activity for foodie brides and their ladies, or foodie grooms and their entourage.
Oh, and if all that wasn’t enough to tempt you, their Lavender Crème Brulee is out of this world!
