When Jes and Jack decide to have their wedding at the Riviera Maya in Mexico, we knew it would be a special day. With smiling faces from ear to ear, the couple said their I-do’s on the beach, and danced the night away under the stars. Check out their fairytale wedding featured on Style Me Pretty!
Thank you to all the *brilliant* vendors who made their wedding possible!

Hey there bride-to-be’s, expecting rain on your wedding day? Don’t fret! Successful events start with thinking ahead, and we at Brilliant Event Planning can show you just how to do that!
Have a Plan
If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, it’s important to have a backup that is both thoughtful and feasible. Before you even sign the contract with your venue, make sure that your Plan B can be executed by your venue, and is a scenario that honors the vision of your big day. When rain pours down, it’s very possible that your Plan B will quickly become Plan A, make sure it’s something you love!
Know When to make the Rain Call
Weather forecasts can often be fickle, making it difficult to know when you should move your outdoor ceremony indoors. Most assume that you can make the Rain Call within a half hour before the start of the ceremony, but this can lead to all kinds of problems with vendors: florists and rental companies need to know in advance where to set up, and some may even require a 24-hour advanced notice. Check with your vendors and set a deadline for yourself for when to make the call, and be ready to stick to it!
Whether you have to move your location from outdoors, or already planned an indoor wedding, keep in mind that rainfall does stop. If you’re feeling adventurous, snag those few minutes of sunshine and take some outdoor wedding photos that are sure to be memorable.
Bring the Rainwear
If you know in advance that your wedding day forecast calls for a drizzle, perhaps you’ll want to go ahead with the outdoor ceremony and add a twist! Surprise and delight your guests with rain boots and umbrellas as unique wedding favors, that are both useful and adorable!
Whatever your preference may be for your big day, don’t the let weather put a damper. Take control and plan ahead, and you’re sure to have a truly *brilliant* wedding!

As we at Brilliant Event Planning dive into the new year, we’re keeping an eye on upcoming wedding trends for 2016, and you can too! From colors to food, you can expect a major shift to more nature-inspired and romantic touches in all things bridal.
A major hit from the start of the new year that we expect to carry into the new year in Pantone’s 2016 Color of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. This romantic mix of blush and blue is sure to make it’s way into wedding invites and much more!
Another color trend we can look forward to is the incorporation of metallics, particularly in fashion and decor. Metallic tones are also the perfect compliment to the romantic touches brides are sure to add. We expect to see an increase in the use of hanging chandeliers and edison bulbs, as well as candelabras adorning centerpieces.
Along with romantic themes of wedded bliss, 2016 will see brides unleash their inner wild side by returning to nature. Major trends that will utilize both organic and simplistic touches include wildflower bridal bouquets, often incorporating hand-picked flowers and even organic food items, and ‘naked’ wedding cakes, which opt out of buttercream frosting shells and expose the cake’s underlying structure.
Lastly, we at Brilliant Event Planning predict that a major trend to hit 2016 weddings will be the theme of personalization. Of course every couple seeks to make their big day their own, but the theme of personalization will become increasingly prolific in the form of individual social media hashtags and polaroid cameras for guests.
A popular trend for foodie couples will be to add personal cocktail and food pairings, to reflect individual personalities or even special memories. My personal favorite is for couples who love to vacation: a one-bite-taco and margarita shooter combo is sure to hit the spot!
Dive in 2016 and tackle some of these upcoming trends to make your wedding a truly *Brilliant* affair!

Last summer we had an incredible time designing Angelique and Joe’s wedding! On August 2nd, the lovely pair were married at the Glen Island Harbour Club in a beautiful outdoor tent ceremony.
The incredible white floral arrangements from Arcadia Floral, as well as the beautiful natural backdrop of the Glen Harbour Club set in New Rochelle, New York, made for a stunning scene that wowed guests from start to finish.
The happy couple started off the fun outdoors popping a bottle of champagne. They made sure the guests joined in on all the good times too! Fun signage in the powder rooms encouraged guests to get back on the dance floor.
The merriment continued throughout the night with gorgeous candles and place settings in the club. Family and friends danced the night away with the happy newlyweds!
Congratulations Angelique and Joe!
Thanks to Adagion Studio for the amazing photos!
Guess what? Paperless Post asked us to share some of our favorite summer wedding inspiration with you to potentially inspire future designs!
As simple as it may sound, there is no better inspiration for a summer wedding than summer itself. Summer – or l’ete as the French call it – means picnic baskets and lemonade and days by the pool. It means fresh fruit at the farmer’s market and this summer we’re all about taking inspiration from our citrus cravings. From half-orange sorbets and lemon-filled vases to watermelon canvas totes to fit welcome gifts for guests, we can’t get enough of all that juicy Vitamin C. It’s fresh, fruity, fun, and can be spun anyway you want. And the fact of the matter is? No one does color better than nature herself.
It’s a midsummer night’s dream and we’re looking toward the fragrant bohemian notes of Scandinavia. Think lush flower crowns of dark blooms and milky leaves, and exquisite white gowns of hand-embroidered lace and tiny beads. Envision flower walls of white chrysanthemum and pink peonies and layered cakes topped with strawberries as red as the rose. There is something magical and mesmerizing about this ethereal contrast of dark and light – and we can’t get enough!
We love the idea of old-school romance, but it doesn’t hurt to take a few ideas from our times. It is the twenty-first century after all! We’re talking about wedding sites for your guests (go green on the RSVP?), and cell phone charging stations (those electronics need some fuel too!). We mean Fujifilm instant cameras for a guestbook and #hashtags for the big day.
These are just a few of our 2015 summer favorites! What are yours?

Designing Anna and Chris’ gorgeous winter wedding was nothing short of fun! The happy couple was married at University Club in late December of last year. The bride, dressed to perfection in a strapless beaded gown, stunned their guests as she walked down the aisle to “Jurassic Park”. In order to include family and friends in their ceremony, each guest received their own breaking glass and joined the happy newlyweds in the tradition of breaking the glass!
Later, as guests entered the reception space, they marveled at the custom table numbers, that Anna’s dad sketched by hand just for their wedding! The bride and groom shared their first dance to an acoustic version of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up”, which artfully faded into the real deal, bringing guests onto the dance floor.
After dancing much of the night away, the guests and bridal party continued their festivities with a champagne pour and enjoyed specialty desserts from famous restaurants around the city! The end of the night didn’t disappoint either – each guest received a tiny bouquet of flowers, hand-wrapped with a custom sticker, as they made their way to the after party. Congratulations Anna and Chris!

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Four Seasons Magazine about wedding favors and how to make them stand out. From memorable to personal, there’s a suggestion here for everyone! To check out the whole article, head over to The Four Seasons Magazine.
Sarah Glick, our wedding planner, recently had the pleasure of visiting the tropical Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica. The resort is brand new and it definitely shows! Guests can choose to relax in the sun at one of the two gorgeous infinity pools (one of which is adults only) or at the hotel’s black sand beach. One of the most impressive services the resort offers is a sunset shuttle. As the resort is East-facing allowing only for sunrise views, they offer a complimentary shuttle to a nearby hotel for guests who would also like to enjoy the sunset. This service shows how meticulously every detail of the resort’s guests’ stays has been through through.
For the active traveler, the resort has an array of watersports, all of which are complimentary. Feeling more adventurous? There is everything from zip lining to horseback riding all within 20 minutes of the resort. The Andaz also features three restaurants the highlight being Chao Pescao, Small Plates & Bar. The menu features Latin-inspired fare, a cocktail list written by the in-house mixologist and live music on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The mixologist is also available for private or group classes!
With such fabulous attention to detail, the Andaz Papagayo would play host to an absolutely stunning wedding. The resort features an array of venues including a private garden and three open-air restaurants overlooking the water. In the case of a buyout of the resort, you can even have the ceremony in the lobby, which features a runway-style aisle! This resort is a truly spectacular venue for anyone considering a destination wedding. To read more about their venues, services, and menus click here.
Thank you to the Andaz Papagayo for the beautiful pictures and wonderful experience!
