TIPS & SECRETS FROM A NEW YORK CITY PROPOSAL, WEDDING & EVENT PLANNER

The Proposal Planner: Bo and Kelcie

Kelcie’s love of fashion was the centerpiece for her one of a kind marriage proposal in New York City. This amazing day all started with a shopping tour of New York City’s famous SoHo neighborhood.  The couple then took a private car across the river to the Brooklyn Museum where they enjoyed a private tour of the Gaultier fashion exhibit.  Little did Kelcie know that’s as they were making their way through the exhibit, our proposal team was transforming the foyer into a completely custom proposal spot.  As they came to the end of the exhibit a table was now displayed with 8 pairs of shoes, one pair for each year of their relationship. Bo led Kelcie down the line of shoes, revealing the highlights of their relationship on the inside of each shoebox. A final pair of shoes displayed the message “Marry Me” on the bottom.  Bo proposed and Kelcie said yes! We are thrilled to have our couples wonderful proposal featured on How He Asked! Check out the post here. Congratulations Bo and Kelcie!

The Proposal Planner: Chris and Petra

Chris put his total heart and soul into this amazing proposal. He wanted to make it clear to Petra how much he adored her and how lucky he was to be with her. Thus Lucky in Love was born and became the title to this one of kind engagement. From the very beginning, a plan was set up to completely catch Petra off guard. She thought that she and Chris would be meeting with some friends from overseas for a birthday, but instead she was lead into an empty Penthouse suite with a spectacular view overlooking the city. It was flawlessly decorated and just for her. When they entered the room a huge wall mural displayed pictures of the couple. A guitarist sat in the corner and played Journey’s “When A Man Loves A Woman”, and the lyrics were also printed on the beautiful white runner that was laid on the floor. As the two of them walked the runner they found themselves standing under a floral arch where miniature horseshoes hung from, and all had a reason written up by Chris of why he knows he is lucky to have her. After reading every single one, Chris got down on one knee and pulled out the ring which he perfectly disguised in a Happy Birthday gift bag. The night was far from over at that point. Just as Petra was calling her friends and family to share the good news, they all appeared after waiting so patiently in the lobby, and everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening complete with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres! Congratulations Chris and Petra!

The Proposal Planner: Paul and Azalea

Paul made sure that Azalea was treated to an unforgettable proposal that truly represented her as an Artist, and her love and passion for painting. The evening all started when the couple happened to come across a sign for an Open House Community Art Class.  After agreeing to Paul’s suggestion that they should partake in it, Azalea and Paul joined the class that was staged all for her. About 15 minutes into the class, an acoustic guitar in the distance starting playing the beautiful melody to Trains “Marry Me”. One by one fellow students from the class started singing, until finally the whole class was! Azalea, humming along with the tune, still was completely unaware of what was going on or what was about to come. The group of singers then led Paul and Azalea into another room where the guitarist could be found, and that is where the magical moment unfolded. As Azalea came into the room a pianist started to play, and she was faced with a gorgeous display containing paint cans, flowers, paint brushes, and of course a mural of the city with “Will You Marry Me?” painted across. Azalea was still in shock as Paul dropped to one knee and presented her with the ring! After receiving a ‘Yes’ the group of singers broke out into a celebratory group dance and Paul and Azalea shared a wonderful champagne toast! Congratulations Paul and Azalea!

The Proposal Planner in JCK Magazine

I was delighted to talk with the jewelry industry authorities at JCK Magazine to discuss our shared love of marriage proposals and the breakthrough industry of proposal planning. The article posted yesterday, February 13th, so if you missed it be sure to check it our here!

The Proposal Planner: Daniel and Elena

Elena thought she and Daniel were just going to dinner, but instead what she got was a night that she would never forget. This beautiful proposal all started when the couple was asked if they wanted to watch the premier of a short film that was about to be played on a jumbo screen mounted on the side of the building.  As the video started and Elena and Daniel stood and watched, Elena soon began to realize that it was a personal slide show which consisted of pictures of the two of them. The last slide presented the words “Will You Marry Me?” and as Daniel dropped to one knee, Elena instantly burst into tears. Daniel then had one last surprise. Wanting to honor and represent Elena’s passion for cooking, he presented her with a beautiful cutting board that was personally engraved with their names and engagement date. The couple concluded with a celebratory champagne toast. Congratulations Daniel and Elena!

The Proposal Planner: Josh and Natalyia

Josh let Natalyia know almost everyday that she is the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with. He now was ready for that big moment to make it official, and there was no holding back with this one. The proposal started by teaming up with the interactive play, Sleep No More, where Josh was to pop the question at their exclusive rooftop restaurant, Gallow Green (before it was even open to the public!). Natalyia still had no idea, and believed that she was just another individual partaking in this interactive experience. When both of them finally met, they stood on the rooftop  inside an old vintage train car which was surrounded by pages of poetry written by Pabloe Neruda, one of the couple’s favorite poet. After getting down on one knee and receiving a yes, the two of them were ushered away in a stunning 1932 Hupmobile to enjoy dinner at Natalyia’s favorite restaurant, Daniel’s. Josh surprised Natalyia further by having them enjoy dinner in the restaurant’s private sky box and was served by the executive chef himself. The next day the couple was off to Greece and France and we couldn’t be happier for them. The amazing couple’s proposal was featured in the New York Post and on Good Morning America! Congratulations Josh and Natalyia!

The Proposal Planner: Allen and Fen

Working with Allen, who is both incredibly kind and lives in Australia, to create his dream proposal was an absolute blast.  Many late night and early morning phone calls were made between Allen in Australia and myself in New York, but the end product was a truly unique proposal.  Fen believed she was meeting Allen’s parents in New Jersey and sightseeing on her first trip to New York City, but what she didn’t know was that Allen had been planning a Harry Potter-themed proposal for her.  Allen made a lunch reservation at an exclusive club in Manhattan, which served as the perfect backdrop for this memorable proposal.  As Allen and Fen arrived, I led Allen to the private dining room while Fen was taken to the coatroom and then escorted to Allen. Fen was met with a glass vile filled with a quote from Harry Potter.  After reading it she opened the door to the private room, which was decorated with Harry Potter books, vintage bottles made to look like potion bottles and an abundance of romantic roses and candles, and was confronted by a kneeling Allen and an engagement ring.  After she said yes, the two enjoyed a romantic lunch for two.  The happy couple’s imaginative engagement was even featured in the New York Post.  If you missed it, click here to read!  Congratulations, Allen & Fen!

The Proposal Planner: Shkelzen and Fortune

Shkelzen proposed to Fortune in an incredibly romantic fashion.  As a nod to her first name, and that she is his treasure, he popped the question inside an old bank vault turned wine cellar!  The couple arrived at the restaurant and were escorted to their own private wine vault.  In this intimate setting we created an installation consisting of twelve vintage safety deposit boxes overflowing with lush flowers.  Each box held an envelope hand-calligraphed with each month of the year.  Inside each envelope was a card that had his favorite memory from their one-year relationship written on it.  The last envelope, however, held a note about what Shkelzen was looking forward to in their future together.  After reading all of the sentimental notes, he proposed and Fortune said yes!  To celebrate their engagement they enjoyed a romantic dinner together in the privacy of the wine vault.  Congratulations, Shkelzen and Fortune!

The Proposal Planner: Matt

Matt, a professional baseball player, wanted to propose to his girlfriend in unforgettable style, so we created a proposal that she will always remember!  After a day spent touring NYC in a helicopter and dining at a luxurious restaurant, Matt’s girlfriend thought they were heading to see the Broadway show Chicago, but she was not expecting what ensued.  The couple arrived to the theatre early and was ushered in through the side door before the show started.  Matt and his lovely girlfriend not only met some of the show’s stars, but they had the opportunity to take the stage.  When they approached center stage, Matt dropped to one knee and proposed. Elated and surprised, she said yes!  Congratulations, Matt!
