Now that our 2023 wedding season has come to a close, we can’t help but reminisce over some of our favorite weddings from over the years. With four days full of events, delicious catering, and beautifully choreographed dances - Rippi and Tawfiq’s Indian fusion wedding in NYC was definitely one for the books!

Soon after their engagement, Rippi and Tawfiq reached out to Team Brilliant to begin planning their dream Indian fusion wedding. The two wanted a traditional New York glam wedding with an Indian twist. As their New York City wedding planners, we knew we could make it happen!

The festivities began with an intimate Mehndi party at the couple’s penthouse apartment. With the help of Mandaps by Dhoom, their living space was transformed into a vibrant and colorful celebration. Guests were encouraged to sip on a glass of champagne, get their Mehndi done, and enjoy food from one of Rippi and Tawfiq’s favorite restaurants in the city - Tanoreen.

Traditionally, the Mehndi party is a pre-wedding celebration in which friends and family gather as the bride has a red-orange henna paste applied to her palms, the back of her hands, and feet. Designs are typically unique to the couple and symbolize good luck and prosperity for their future. Personally, we are obsessed with the way Henna by Pallavi seamlessly incorporated the NYC and Toronto skylines into Rippi’s Mehndi design. It was a beautiful ode to the two cities that the couple called home.

On Thursday night, Rippi and Tawfiq welcomed their guests with a pre-wedding tequila and tacos celebration at Añejo Tribeca. The moody tequila bar created the perfect atmosphere for friends and family to mingle and reconnect.

On Friday night, the couple held their Sangeet at New York’s first modern Indian gastro bar - Baar Baar. The contemporary restaurant was adorned with vibrant Indian decor, while guests were encouraged to wear traditional Indian attire such as sarees, lenghas, and kurtas.

A Sangeet ceremony is an Indian wedding tradition meant to celebrate the union of two families. The joyous event involved lots of music, dancing, and performances from the couple’s family and friends. Rippi and Tawfiq also made sure to perform some pretty spectacular dances of their own! Needless to say - the performances were definitely one of the highlights of the weekend! So much fun!

The next morning was officially wedding day! Rippi and her bridesmaids spent the morning at the Roxy relaxing in their matching robes before getting their hair and makeup done by Style by Susmita. Rippi was absolutely glowing as she got dressed in her beautiful blush lehenga-choli designed by Anita Dongre.

Just down the hall, Tawfiq and his groomsmen were also busy getting ready for the big day. We can’t help but gush over these heartwarming photos of him and his son getting ready together. It was such a special moment for the two of them.

Prior to their ceremony, the two opted to have a first look between just the two of them. This moment is always incredibly special for our couples as it allows them to take a break from all of the wedding day madness and focus on each other. Not to mention- these photos taken outside of the Roxy are absolutely to die for.

When it came time to choose a venue, Weylin was the perfect choice for Rippi and Tawfiq. Not only did it accommodate their large headcount, but it also incorporated a beautiful art deco ambiance that they had been searching for. The perfect combination of traditional yet glam!

Given that the rest of their events had been saturated with bold colors, Rippi and Tawfiq opted for softer tones during their ceremony in the main rotunda. Golden chairs surrounded the stage where Fleurs NYC’s show-stopping floral installation hung directly in the center of it all. One of our favorite floral installation to this day!

Formerly known as the Williamsburgh Savings Bank, Weylin still has many of the building’s original features. One of our favorite historic touches was the original vault that Tawfiq and his groomsmen walked out of during the ceremony. I mean - how cool is that?!

After the ceremony, guests were invited to cocktail hour in the gallery, where they enjoyed delicious light bites and sipped on the couple’s signature cocktails. Guests were also encouraged to attend a specialty whiskey tasting in the vault.

The softer color palette from the ceremony was now complimented with romantic touches of wine red - a glimpse of what was to come at the reception.

The reception space is where Rippi and Tawfiq’s vision of NYC glam really came to life. Intentional touches of gold and red gave the space a luxurious old-school charm. Tables were adorned with delicate linens and luscious florals, finished with pops of velvet and menus designed by Ceci New York.

After the most delicious meal by Moghul Catering and an absolutely stunning cake by Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, it didn’t take long for guests to hit the dance floor! On the Move Entertainment had everyone up on their feet the whole night - good thing our bride came prepared with her own dancing shoes!

Congratulations Rippi and Tawfiq! Thanks so much for letting Team Brilliant be a part of your special day!

A special thanks to the dream team of vendors that made Rippi and Tawfiq’s wedding weekend so spectacular!
